Background:
On July 1, 1999 the city entered into an Interlocal Agreement for Joint Purchasing with Galveston County. This agreement allows the city to "piggy back" off Galveston County bids and enhances the buying power of both entities to purchase items more economically. The Street Department utilizes this agreement to purchase various street materials with an estimated annual cost of $241,000. Staff is requesting approval to purchase street materials through the interlocal agreement with Galveston County.
