Consider and take action on a resolution adopting a water conservation plan for the City of League City, Texas (Assistant City Manager, Public Works)
Staff recommends approval.
Background:
Attached for your review is the Water Conservation Plan required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB). Rules for governing development of water conservation plans for public water suppliers are contained in Title 30, Part 1, Chapter 288, Subchapter A, Rule 288.2 of the Texas Administrative Code. This information is included in the attached plan and provides further definition of the plan's content.
In addition to the City's on-going conservation efforts, the plan includes an increased public outreach program that utilizes local venues, public television, and the City's web page to further promote water conservation and reuse; expanding the existing reuse distribution system to encourage reuse irrigation and not potable water utilization; constructing a new Water Reclamation Facility designed to produce Type I reuse effluent, and the installation of the first phase of automatic meter replacement to improve metering accuracy and further improve water accountability.
