Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a professional services agreement with Huitt-Zollars, Inc. for planning and design services related to the Downtown Redevelopment Plan in an amount of $895,400 (Deputy City Manager)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the Deputy City Manager to execute a professional services agreement with Huitt-Zollars Inc. in the amount of $895,400 for the planning and designing of the Downtown Redevelopment Plan. This project is consistent with the “Road Map to the Future” goals and objectives adopted by the Council on February 24, 2015. This portion of the project includes:
• A minimum of two public meetings and an opportunity for Council to review.
• Reconstruction of Park Avenue from Main Street (FM 518) through E. Wilkins complete with on street parking and streetscaping.
• Main Street enhancements from SH 3 to Iowa including streetscaping, resurfacing and adding turn lanes where possible.
• Construction of a water feature and fountain along the western edge on League Park.
• Updating League Park and improving the connection from Walding Station to the Park.
Staff has developed a formal presentation that will provide additional detail at the May 10, 2016 Council Meeting.
This project was approved in the FY 2016 CIP. The resolution and development agreement have been reviewed and approved as to form by the City Attorney.
