Consider and take action on a resolution establishing a Charter Review Advisory Committee (Mayor Hallisey and Council Member Dugie)
Background:
Approval of this item will establish a Charter Review Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to evaluate the Charter’s provisions with respect to redundancy, applicability and relevancy especially as it relates to the City’s operations. In addition, the Committee will evaluate and provide a report on the performance of the City in maintaining adherence to the Charter provisions with attention to previous changes over the last ten years.
The Committee will be comprised of 16 members. Mayor and Council will each appoint two members that will be approved by Council vote. The Board will then elect a Chair and Vice Chair with support provided by staff throughout the review process.
Anticipated delivery of the final report and recommendations is October 1.
