Presentation of awards to student participants for the 2018 National Drinking Water Week poster contest and essay contest (Director of Public Works)
Background:
The City of League City set goals for reducing water consumption and began a new program in 2011 to promote water conservation awareness throughout the community. One of several public outreach events is the annual Drinking Water Week poster and essay contest in CCISD and DISD schools serving League City residents. Staff in the Utilities Division judged the entries received from throughout the school districts. This year’s theme is “Protect the Source”.
Prizes are awarded for the poster contest in each grade category (grades K-2, 3-5, 6 8) to first, second and third place winners and grades 9-12 for the essay contest. Awards are presented to the winning students in Council Chambers during a regular Council Meeting. Public Outreach activities and awards are funded through the City’s participation in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (“ERCOT”) Demand Response Program.
