Consider and take action on an ordinance ordering a General-Special Election for the City of League City, Texas on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 to elect a Mayor and Council Members to Positions 1, 2, 6 and 7, ordering a Runoff Election on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, if necessary; and for the purpose of submitting to the registered voters separate propositions for the amendment of the City Charter (City Secretary)

Background:
Approval of this item will order a General-Special Election for the City of League City on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, to elect a Mayor and Council Members to Positions 1, 2, 6, and 7, ordering a Runoff Election on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, if necessary; and submitting to the registered voters separate propositions for the amendment of the City Charter.
According to Section 3.005 of the Texas Election Code, an election ordered by an authority of a political subdivision shall be ordered not later than the 78th day before the election. In 2018 the 78th day before the election is Monday, August 20, 2018.
