Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a one-year agreement with the Galveston County Daily News as the official newspaper for the City of League City for an amount not to exceed $22,000 (Director of Finance)
Background:
Approval of this resolution with authorize a one-year agreement with the Galveston County Daily News as the official newspaper for the City of League City. Under Texas Local Government Code Section 52.004 and the League City City Charter (Article X, Section 13), the City must designate a local newspaper as the official newspaper for the City of League City every year. On June 13, 2017 the City Council approved naming the Galveston Daily News as the official newspaper for League City.
The Purchasing Department issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) #18-030 for newspaper advertising. One proposal was received from the current vendor. The proposal was evaluated based upon the specific criteria included in the RFP:
• Cost
• Circulation
• References and experience
• Public information news items for League City
Based upon this criteria, staff recommends the Galveston County Daily News as the official newspaper for the City. Pricing will remain at the current rate of $10 per column inch.
