Consider and take action on a resolution confirming the appointment of the court clerk and the deputy court clerks in the municipal court (Director of Finance)
Background:
Approval of this item will confirm the appointment of the current staff at the municipal court. The City Charter, Article V, Section 7, provides that the Council may appoint and remove one or more municipal court clerks, and may also set salary for said clerk(s). In 1996, the City Council adopted Resolution 96-17 which authorized the clerk and staff to report administratively to the city administrator, and judicially to the judges. Resolution 2013-09 was adopted by the City Council replacing the city administrator with the city manager as the chief executive officer of the City and confirming the staff appointments at that time. This resolution updates the prior Council approval to reflect and formalize staffing changes that have occurred in the past year.
