Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an agreement with Semper Striping, LLC for roadway markings on-call in an amount not to exceed $110,000.00 (Director of Public Works)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the award of a contract to Semper Striping, LLC for installation of roadway markings through a unit price for an on-call contract for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019 with the option to renew for two (2) additional one-year periods. The bid quantities on the invitation were given as a base for comparison and do not reflect actual needed quantities. The City has budgeted and expects to expend approximately $110,000.00 for this agreement.
The quantities used in the bid form are just an estimate used to approximate the total work required. The work will be paid based on specific work orders and the unit prices for completion of work. The work orders will be developed throughout the year based on needs. Each individual work order may include multiple locations but will include a minimum of $5,000.00 worth of markings. Examples of proposed FY19 work orders would include, but not be limited to, the remarking of: South Shore Boulevard from SH96 to FM646, Bay Area Boulevard from FM518 to League City Parkway, Davis Road, Landing Boulevard from League City Parkway to Sandvalley Way and Louisiana Avenue. As each work order is generated, the contractor will work with staff to develop a schedule for completion of the roadway markings. Typically, work will be completed within 21 days of the issuance of a work order.
Three sealed bids for the project were received, publicly opened and read on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Bid details are available in Exhibit A. The City staff confirms that prices are within typical range for this type of work. The City’s recommendation is to award the contract to Semper Striping, LLC for roadway markings on-call.
