Title:
Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a construction contract to DSP Industrial, Inc for the 3rd Street Ground Storage Tank Rehab Project (WT1802A) in an amount not to exceed $160,650.00 and authorizing an expenditure of an additional $16,000.00 for a construction work change directive budget (Director of Budget and Project Management)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the award of a construction contract with DSP Industrial, Inc in the amount of $160,650.00 for the 3rd Street Ground Storage Tank Rehab Project (WT1802A).

This project is programmed as part of the City’s Annual Water System Improvements Project which is in place to provide maintenance to repair and prolong the life of existing facilities. The 500,000-gallon ground storage tank located on 3rd Street is in need of interior and exterior coating to clean and prevent corrosion damage which is caused when the coatings reach the end of their usable life. The maintenance is needed to keep the 3rd Street ground storage tank site operational until other projects, such as construction of the 60-inch replacement of the 42-inch waterline along SH3 and purchase of additional water supply are complete. Staff anticipates the 3rd Street site being needed for another 5 to 10 years. Today, the well produces 800,000 gallons per day and is a benefit to our current water supply. Also planned for the 3rd Street site as part of the League Park improvements is additional parking on the ground storage tank site as shown in attachment 7 (League Park Concept Plan).
