Consider and take action on a resolution expressing support and encouragement for Galveston County to proceed with soliciting bids and awarding a contract for clearing and de-snagging of Clear Creek (City Manager)
Background:
Catastrophic flooding remains a regional problem the amelioration of which requires efforts and contribution by all governmental entities in the region. As such, the City of League City has and continues to engage in efforts to improve drainage and reduce the risk of flooding within both its Corporate Limits and the region. The City welcomes similar efforts by its regional partners and appreciates the leadership shown by Galveston County as evidenced by this effort to improve the flood related flow characteristics of Clear Creek.
League City supports the clearing and de-snagging of Clear Creek as being considered by Galveston County and encourages the process leading to the award of a contract for such purposes.
Staff requests the approval of this resolution and further requests that the City Manager be permitted to forward the agreed upon resolution to the Galveston County Judge and Commissioners Court as soon as practicable.
