Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a construction contract with RJ Construction Company, Inc., for the Westover Park Lift Station and Force Main Improvements Project (CIP #: WW1801B), in an amount of $1,440,875.00, and establish a budget of $187,313.75 for Work Change Directives and Construction Material Testing Services (Director of Budget & Project Management)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the construction contract to RJ Construction Company, Inc. of the Westover Park Lift Station and Force Main Improvements Project in the amount of $1,440,875 and establish a budget of $187,313.75 for Work Change Directives and Construction Material Testing Services .
The 2019 Capital Improvement Plan programmed construction of the Westover Park Lift Station and Force Main Improvements in fiscal year 2020. In order to provide service to the Westwood Subdivision and Florence Campbell Elementary School, the construction of this project was moved to 2019. The purpose of this project is to divert the existing Countryside Lift Station force main wastewater flow to the Westover Park Lift Station and upgrade the existing Westover Park Lift Station with new pumps and electrical equipment, and a new 14” force main from the Westover Park Lift Station to the existing force main on Maple Leaf Drive. Upgrades associated with the Westwood Development will be reimbursed to the City by a Development Agreement in the amount of $170,924.80.
Two sealed bids for the project were received on November 15, 2018. RJ Construction Company, Inc. submitted the lowest total bid in the amount of $1,440,875.00. Attached is the recommendation of award along with the bid tabulation, prepared by Binkley & Barfield, Inc., City’s Design Consultant.
Staff requests the approval of the award of the construction contract and the authorization of funds, as follows:
