Consider and take action on an appointment to the Civil Service Commission (City Manager)
Background:
If approved, this item will reappoint the current member on the Civil Service Commission. Larry Watts is currently serving a partial term. He was appointed on 8/22/2017 after the position was vacated by Ron Anselmo, who moved out of the City and was therefore ineligible to continue serving.
City Manager's Appointment:
Position No. 2 Larry Watts Term to expire 12/31/2021
Per Section 143.006 of Texas Local Government Code - The commission consists of three members appointed by the municipality's chief executive and confirmed by the governing body of the municipality. Members serve staggered three-year terms with the term of one member expiring each year.
Texas Local Government Code requires a person appointed to the commission to be of good moral character; a United States citizen; a resident of the municipality for more than three years; over 25 years of age; and not have held a public office within the preceding three years.
