Title
Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with Vulcan Construction Materials, LP to increase the total compensation by $35,000 to allow for the purchase of additional crushed limestone (Director of Public Works)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the additional funds required to purchase crushed limestone materials to complete the annual maintenance of the City’s 4 miles of gravel roadways including the Southwest Water Reclamation Facility (SWWRF) operations access road and other incidental uses for City facilities. Public Works experienced an abnormally high demand for gravel roadway maintenance due to the well above average rainfall over the fall and winter seasons.

The current one-year contract agreement with Vulcan Construction Materials, LP is for the period of October 1, 2018 through September 20, 2019 in the amount of $50,000. As of March 31, 2019, $47,158 has been expended, with six months remaining until the contract expires. The estimated expenditure for this product is $85,000 for this fiscal year. Crushed limestone material is a critical component for street rehabilitation; therefore, additional funds in the amount of $35,000 are needed.

The City has an existing interlocal agreement with Galveston County which affords the City the opportunity to purchase this product under a contract. Galveston County contract #CM17195 associated with BID#172020 (Exhibit A) was renewed by the County with Vulcan Construction Materials, LP for $27.00 per ton delivered.
