Approval of this item will dedicate and rename the League City Fire Department Drill Field Training Classroom to the “Greg Bozdech Memorial Training Center”.
On September 6, 2018 Firefighter and Lifetime Member Greg Bozdech passed away after a long battle with an aggressive small cell form of cancer.
Greg Bozdech began his fire service career in 1982 at Norwood Fire Department in Norwood New Jersey. In 1996 Greg joined the League City Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Lieutenant, President of the Executive Board, and Secretary of the executive board amongst other roles and committee chairs. Greg was also an employee of the Pearland Fire Marshal’s office for over 10 years.
During his time with League City VFD, Greg and his canine Buddy lead countless trainings for our Firefighters. Greg would put together weekend and evening classes with Buddy for our firefighters. He selflessly gave up his time to help those around him succeed.
The League City Fire Department membership has requested this dedication in his honor and would like to have this done before the expansion project for the fire training facility is completed so that a ceremony can be held at that time.
FUNDING
New signage for the building will be funded from the League City Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. Activity Fund account, which is separate from all City accounts and is managed by the LCVFD Corporation. This account is funded by donations from citizens and various businesses throughout our area.
