Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an agreement with Cop Stop, Inc. to purchase uniforms and accessories for the League City Fire Department in an amount not to exceed $70,000 (Fire Chief)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will allow the League City Volunteer Fire Department to buy uniforms for its volunteers for the next fiscal year.
The City solicited bids for a uniform vendor and received only two bids; Galls and Cop Stop, Inc. Even though the lowest bidder was Galls ($82,120), Staff is recommending that the agreement be awarded to Cop Stop, Inc. ($116,147). We have had a couple of years of experience with Gall’s and consistently received poor service that has proven to be unacceptable for our organization. These experiences are reflected in Gall’s Vendor Report Card, which is included with the attached Procurement Memo.
Additionally, Cop Stop is a local vendor whereas Gall’s is based out of Kentucky which makes uniform mistakes difficult to correct in a timely manner.
The bid received by Cop Stop, Inc. totaled $116,147 but if approved, this item is based on unit pricing with a not to exceed amount which is capped at $70,000 based on the FY2020 Operating Budget.
CONTRACT ORIGINATION: Reviewed and approved by the City Attorney's Office.
