Title:
Consider and take action on a resolution establishing locations for future Fire Stations 7 and 8 (Fire Chief)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will formally designate locations for the future Fire Stations 7 and 8 (as illustrated on the attached exhibit) and will authorize staff to secure during the development process or through direct acquisition approximately four acres per station.

Fire Station 7 is proposed to be located east of Bay Area on Muldoon, near the proposed park. Fire Station 8 is proposed to be located just south of the future Grand Parkway on West Blvd. The current response times for these areas could exceed fifteen minutes. Currently, the nearest fire stations are Fire Station 2 (2120 Hobbs Road), Fire Station 4 (175 W Bay Area Blvd) and Fire Station 5 (2898 Bay Creek Drive).

The west side of League City is experiencing significant growth, with approximately 1000 new homes per year over the next few years. These new homes will increase the demand for fire and emergency services. Establishing Fire Stations 7 and 8 in strategic locations helps ensures timely fire and emergency services. These new stations will play a vital role in maintaining public safety and supporting the community's needs as it continues to growth.

Fire Station Location Considerations:
The proposed placements of Fire Stations 7 and 8 are the most effective in minimizing gaps in coverage for the existing and proposed development on the southwest side of the City including but not limit to Westland Ranch, Pedragal, Sedona Phase 6, and Legacy, providing optimal coverage to the expanding community on League City's west side. Based on the fire station feasibility study, staff recommend four acres per fire station location.
