Consider and take action on an ordinance to sunset the Big League Dreams Review Committee (Mayor Pro Tem Hicks and Council Member Mann)
Background:
Approval of this ordinance will dissolve the Big League Dreams Review (BLD) Committee.
The League City Sunset Commission is tasked with studying the functions of League City’s various boards and commissions to make recommendations aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing duplication of effort. Recently, the Sunset Commission reviewed the functions of the BLD Committee and determined that its services were no longer required. The BLD Committee had previously provided oversight of the facility formerly known as Big League Dreams when the facility was managed by a third party. The City now manages The Ballpark at League City (formerly the Big League Dreams facility).
Big League Dreams Review Committee:
- 7-member committee created in February 2022 (Ordinance 2022-01)
- The Committee was tasked submitting quarterly reports to the City Council concerning the condition and usefulness of the Big League Dreams facility.
