Background:

What This Is About?
The City Council is considering a new local rule (an ordinance) that would let the City shut off water to a property if there is a serious health or safety issue happening there. The goal is to protect public health and keep the water system safe.
Why This Is Needed?
Sometimes, people do not take care of their septic systems (which handle waste from toilets and sinks). This can lead to raw sewage leaking into yards or water contamination, both of which are dangerous.
