Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the sale of a property identified as P00087293 (Parcel 309) to TxDOT related to the construction of SH 99 Segment B1 in the amount of $3,681,745 (Executive Director of Capital Projects)
Background:
Approval of this resolution authorizes the sale of a property identified as P00087293 (Parcel 309) to TxDOT in the amount of $3,681,745.00 related to the construction of SH 99 Segment B1.
TxDOT is proposing to acquire 15.84 acres (689,918 square feet) out of the original 106.39-acre tract owned by the City of League City, GCAD Parcel # 422228 as Right-of-Way Easement for the construction of SH 99 Segment B1. The 106.39-acre tract less the designated 15.84 acres for the SH 99 ROW is currently proposed for use as the City’s proposed Pat Hallisey (formerly Bay Colony) Park. Location of this proposed acquisition is located at the southern portion of the property and has long been planned as the SH 99 corridor. TxDOT acknowledges City’s park project and through coordinated efforts, has made commitments to ensure coordination with the City’s upcoming construction schedule. As an abundance of caution, the City and TxDOT entered into an Occupancy Agreement and a Memorandum of Agreement in which TxDOT will provide the necessary access for the duration of the construction of City’s southern two (2) ponds and related outfall structures. Remainder of park is built to the north of SH 99 ROW. TxDOT has submitted an offer to the City of $3,681,745.00 which consists of $2,069,754.00 for the property and $1,611,991.00 for damages.
The City staff recommends acceptance of this offer.
