Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an agreement with Faith Utilities, LLC for the urgent repair of a failed 48-inch storm water outfall pipe near the Austin Street Bridge in an amount not to exceed $93,369 (Director of Public Works)

 

Background:

 Approval of this item will authorize an agreement with Faith Utilities, LLC for the urgent repair of a failed 48-inch storm water outfall pipe near the Austin Street Bridge in an amount not to exceed $93,369.

 

The repair of this failed 48-inch storm water outfall pipe consist of the replacement of approximately 65ft of corrugated metal pipe (CMP) with reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) and the replacement of the 6ft diameter existing manhole. The repair also requires the removal and replacement of slope paving at the base of the Austin Street Bridge.

 

ARKK Engineering assisted the City in providing construction drawings and proposal assistance to ensure the best repair method and associated scope of work for qualified contractors to submit proposals. Six contractors were contacted with two contractors submitting proposals:

 

Faith Utilities, LLC - $93,369

King Solution Services, LLC - $100,015

 

Both Faith Utilities, LLC and King Solution Services, LLC had performed work for the City and have exceptional performance histories.

 

Funds were adopted in the FY2024-2028 CIP in the amount of $150,000 for the use of incidental repairs identified from Activity 540 Outfall Inspections, project RE1803.
