Title
Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a construction contract with The Trevino Group, Inc. for Public Safety Building Special Vehicles Building Expansion project in an amount not to exceed $78,000 and authorizing an expenditure of an additional $7,800 for a construction work change directive budget, for a total construction budget of $85,800 (Director of Budget and Project Management)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the award of a construction contract to The Trevino Group, Inc. for the Public Safety Building Special Vehicles Building Expansion project in the amount of $78,000 and authorize funds for a construction work change directive budget of $7,800.

The existing building is a pre-manufactured metal building and is approximately 33 feet x 133 feet for a total of 4,389 square feet. The police department desires to expand the easternmost bay by approximately 15 feet in depth toward the north in order to accommodate a new 38-foot-long mobile command vehicle. A new slab will be designed to support the extension, and architectural drawings produced to show the overall exterior configuration, wall sections and details. The existing sectional door will remain in that bay, but accommodations may be made for a future sectional door in the new extension, should it be desired to make it a drive-through bay at some point in the future.

This project is time sensitive. The contract must coordinate with arrival of the mobile command vehicle scheduled for delivery this fall.

There were three sealed bids for this project that were received on September 23, 2020 (Bid No.20-CIP-030). The Trevino Group, Inc. submitted the effective lowest bid, based on the A+B bidding system, in the amount of $78,000. Attached is the City engineering consultant’s recommendation of award, along with the bid tabulation.

This project is anticipated to take 82 calendar days from the notice to proceed.
