Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a one-year agreement with The Galveston Daily News for legal advertisements and notices for an amount not to exceed $28,095.00 and designating The Galveston Daily News as the official newspaper for the City of League City (Director of Finance)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize a one-year agreement with The Galveston Daily News as the official newspaper for the City of League City. Under Texas Local Government Code Section 52.004 and the City of League City Charter (Article X, Section 13), the city must designate a local newspaper as the official newspaper for the City of League City annually.
The Purchasing department requested quotes from local area newspapers The Galveston Daily News, Bay Area Observer, and Houston Chronicle (Hearst Media) and one quote was received from the incumbent paper. The staff recommends The Galveston Daily News as the official newspaper for the city. Pricing has remained the same for a total of $12 per column inch which is the same rate for the last fiscal year and publication days of Tuesday through Friday with one weekend edition.
CONTRACT ORIGINATION: Agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney’s Office.
