Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a one-year renewal agreement with Kustom Sweeping, LLC for street sweeping services for various City locations in amount not to exceed $86,400 (Director of Public Works)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize a one-year renewal agreement with Kustom Sweeping, LLC for street sweeping services for various City locations from February 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027 in an amount not to exceed $86,400, with the option to renew for one (1) additional eight-month period.
On September 26, 2023, Council approved a two-year agreement with Kustom Sweeping, LLC (Bid# 23-029: Street Sweeping for Various City Locations) for the period of October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2025 in an amount not to exceed $172,800 with two (2) additional one-year renewal options. The City Manager approved a first amendment to the agreement on September 10, 2025, at staff’s request, to extend the agreement for three months ($21,500) resulting in a total not to exceed amount of $194,300. A second amendment was approved on January 7, 2026 to extend the agreement by an additional month ($7,200), bringing the total not to exceed amount to $201,500.
To manage costs, staff evaluated alternatives and determined that a lease and maintenance program for a City-operated street sweeper - staffed by Public Works personnel - initially appeared to be the most advantageous option. However, this option ultimately proved unsuccessful and is not feasible at this time. Therefore, staff requests Council’s consideration to renew the agreement with Kustom Sweeping, LLC for street sweeping services at various City locations, in an amount not to exceed $86,400, based on the vendor’s performance history and fair market pricing. Kustom Sweeping, LLC has agreed to this renewal.
