Title
Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an Interlocal Agreement with Galveston County to provide $2,000,000 funding toward the construction of Hobbs Road Extension to FM 517 (ST2101). (Executive Director of Capital Projects)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize an Interlocal Agreement with Galveston County to provide $2,000,000 funding toward the construction of Hobbs Road extension to FM 517.
The City of League City and Galveston County have identified Hobbs Road extension to FM 517 project as a viable regional road improvement located in League City and unincorporated Galveston County and desire to cooperate in the sharing of construction costs for the project. The extension will be from current end of Hobbs Road from approximately 265’ south of the intersection of Hobbs Road and Patagonia Street to FM 517, a distance approximately 2,100’. Project will also include realignment of approximately 600’ of Cemetery Road to align with proposed Hobbs Road extension. The proposed re-alignment of Cemetery will fall within the League City jurisdiction. The existing span-wire signal will be modified for a 4-way intersection, but the ultimate mast-arm signal will be installed as part of the TxDOT’s FM 517 widening construction which is still few years away. The design of this position of Hobbs Road will include all 4-lanes from the southern end of Hobbs to FM 517. The City may only construct the 2-southbound lanes (western portion) at this time and leave the remaining 2-northbound lanes (eastern portion) to be constructed at a later date. However, the intersection improvements at FM 517 will include all the 4 lanes and a left-turn lane. The total CIP budget for construction in fiscal years 2026-2027 is $5.9 million.

Project is currently under design. Construction is anticipated to begin in calendar year 2026.
