Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the submission of an application to the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife for the Outdoor Recreation Grant Program for Bayridge Park Redevelopment (Director of Parks and Cultural Services)
Background:
Approval of this resolution would meet the requirements of the Grant Application Pre-Approval Process (GAP-AP) and allow city staff to proceed with the grant application process.
TPWD allows for matching grants for Outdoor Recreation of up to $500,000 per sponsor. If approved for the grant, the City will receive funds for redevelopment of Bayridge Park as explained in the attached documents. This grant requires matching funds of 50% of the total project cost from the City of up to $500,000. It is anticipated that the City's match will come from the value of government-owned non-parkland or from the value of private land donations.
The project is a high priority for the Park Board and is a new project proposed in the FY2019 CIP. Preliminary design and construction estimates will be prepared in-house by the Project Management Department. Final design by consultant agreement following receipt of the grant is estimated at $53,000. Construction is estimated at $500,000 for a total project cost estimated at $1,000,000.

$ 90,000 from COLC funds (Park Dedication Fees) to be appropriated for 2019-2023
