Consider and take action on a resolution consenting to the annexation of 15.08+ acres generally located along League City Parkway, west of Cones Lane, into Galveston County Municipal Utility District No. 82 (Director of Planning)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will consent to the annexation by Municipal Utility District #82 (Legacy Development) of 15.08+ acres generally located along League City Parkway, west of Cones Lane.

· The existing boundaries of the Municipal Utility District #82 (the “District”) contain approximately 779.52 acres of territory within the League City limits.
· On October 10, 2024, the District’s Board of Directors requested the City consent to have approximately 7.098 acres of land annexed into the District (Part A). On August 14, 2025 and December 11, 2025, the District’s Board of Directors requested the City consent to have approximately 7.982 acres of land annexed into the District (Part B).
· This annexation is allowed as noted in the Texas Water Code, Section 49.301.
· Pursuant to Ch. 42 of the Texas Local Government Code and Ch. 54 of the Texas Water Code, the District may not add land without the City’s written consent.
· The length of the MUD will not be extended through this action.
· The rates for MUD taxes will not be increased.
· The City will not be responsible for maintenance of drainage or detention areas, whether for existing or new areas.
· The applicant has submitted a rezoning application to change 7.982 acres of the area from “RSF-7” (Single-Family Residential 7) to “CG” (General Commercial) along the frontage of League City Parkway.

Staff recommends City Council approve the resolution consenting to the annexation of land into Municipal Utility District #82 as requested in the District’s petition.
