Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a three-year agreement with Bound Tree Medical to purchase medical supplies for an amount not to exceed $450,000 (Fire Chief)
Background:
Approval of this item will authorize a three-year agreement with Bound Tree Medical to purchase medical supplies for an amount not to exceed $450,000. Bound Tree Medical was awarded the bid for the purchase of medical supplies for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department.
Bound Tree Medical is a vendor on Buy Board. In an effort to ensure we were receiving the best rates on medical supplies, staff decided to bid out the contract. Only two (2) proposals were received, which included Bound Tree Medical, as well as Henry Schein. Henry Schein’s bid was not complete, thereby it was disqualified. Bound Tree Medical was the only vendor to bid on all 254 items. The EMS Department evaluated and scored the proposal utilizing the following matrix: Overview and Scope, Ability to supply all items requested, Cost of Items, Additional Costs including shipping, Utilization of Operative IQ, and required State and Federal certifications for pharmaceuticals.
The rates included in the bid were less than those listed on Buy Board. Bound Tree Medical has been the incumbent medical supplier and has an exceptional history with League City EMS and provided the best value to the city for medical supplies.
