Consider and take action on a resolution updating and adopting a schedule of fees pertaining to water and wastewater rates for Chapter 114 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of League City, Texas entitled Schedule of lees, charges and deposits (Assistant City Manager - CFO)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize adjustments to the water and wastewater base and volumetric charges annually beginning April 2025 through April 2029 as well as an increase in the cost of new water meters. These changes are as shown in the attached fee schedule, which was discussed in the January 14, 2025 work session with City Council.
The Council last took action to update water and wastewater rates on September 14, 2021. Increases in wholesale purchase cost, daily operations and expenses, growth with increase in service demands, and significant current and future infrastructure investments have dictated the need to update fees.
The change in new water meters is based on increased pricing included in an updated agreement with AquaMetrics to be presented to City Council for approval in February 2025. Updating the resolution to reflect the increase to begin in February 2025 ensures the City is charging the actual cost of the water meters.
