Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the purchase of 25 GETAC replacement laptops and docking stations for the Police Department in an amount not to exceed $100,000, utilizing State Contract Sourcewell 020624 SYN (Executive Director of Information Technology & Chief of Police)
Background:
Approval of this item will authorize the purchase of 25 GETAC replacement laptops and docking stations. The Police Department relies on ruggedized laptops to facilitate critical field operations. These devices allow officers to access dispatch information, write reports, check databases, and communicate securely in real time while on patrol.
The current laptops in service are reaching the end of their usable life and are not compatible to upgrade to Windows 11. They are increasingly experiencing hardware and software limitations that hinder productivity and pose a risk to operational efficiency and officer safety. The upgrade to Windows 11 is necessary due to Microsoft not supporting Windows 10, due to end of support date of October 14, 2025. When Microsoft ends support, there are no more security updates, feature updates or technical support for Windows 10, all of which are required for CJIS compliance.
After a thorough evaluation and in collaboration with the Information Technology Department, the Police Department recommends replacing the 25 laptops and docking stations with GETAC S510 and docking stations with funding from the Asset Forfeiture Fund.

FUNDING
{x} If approved, a FY2025 budget amendment is required to increase Asset Forfeiture Fund Computer Equipment and Supplies expense account 2225225-51350 by $100,000, funding is available from the fund balance.
