Title

Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an agreement with Municipal Emergency Services for Firefighter Bunker Gear in an amount not to exceed $174,324.28 for FY 2025 (Fire Chief)

Background:

Approval of this resolution will approve an agreement with Municipal Emergency Services for Firefighter Bunker Gear in an amount not to exceed $174,324.28 through a cooperative agreement with Sourcewell. Bunker Gear is a firefighter's personal protective equipment that provides limited protection against adverse environmental effects during structural firefighting operations and other emergency operations where there is a threat of fire or where physical hazards are likely to be encountered. The Texas Commission on Fire Protection regulations require bunker gear to be removed from service 10 years after the manufacture date.

Only two vendors are authorized to sell our specifications of Bunker Gear in the state of Texas- Municipal Emergency Services (MES) and Delta Fire & Safety. Quotes were obtained from Delta Fire & Safety, and Municipal Emergency Services (MES) cooperative purchasing agreement; Sourcewell. Municipal Emergency Services (MES) had the lowest prices overall through the Sourcewell contract and is recommended as the vendor to purchase new Bunker Gear for the Fire Department. This recommendation is based on a unit price of $4,587.41 per set for 38 sets, for a total of $174,324.28. Each set consists of a jacket, a pair of pants, and a rescue belt.  Delta Fire & Safety’s price was slightly higher at $5,138 per set for a total of $195,44.00
