Title

Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a professional services agreement with Fix Ur Pet beginning October 1, 2026, and expiring on September 30, 2027, for spay and neuter services in an amount not to exceed $58,000 (Chief of Police)

Background:

Approval of this item will authorize a one-year professional services agreement with Fix Ur Pet for spay-and-neuter services in an amount not to exceed $58,000.

Texas law requires animals adopted from municipal shelters to be sterilized and identified through microchipping or tattooing. Rabies vaccinations are also required and may be administered only by a licensed veterinarian. Professional services are exempt from formal competitive procurement requirements under Section 252.022(a)(4) of the Texas Local Government Code. No additional funding is needed for this contract.

Fix Ur Pet is a nonprofit, high-volume veterinary clinic that offers the League City Animal Care (LCAC) affordable, all-inclusive pricing with fewer additional fees than traditional veterinary practices. The clinic can also accommodate unscheduled procedures for animals with urgent or unexpected medical needs. Its staff communicates effectively and works closely with the LCAC to provide timely, efficient, and affordable care.
