Consider and take action on a resolution determining that land is needed for the construction and improvements associated with the SH 3 & FM 518 Intersection Improvements (ST2003), in the City of League City, Texas, specifically: 1) Parcel 7- a 0.0770 acre parcel of land, 2) Parcel 8- a 0.1228 acre parcel of land; and authorizing the institution of eminent domain proceedings (Executive Director of Capital Projects)
Background:
If approved, this resolution establishes the Public Necessity to acquire real property interests in certain properties, and authorizes the uses of eminent domain powers, if necessary, for the acquisition of real property interests in the properties.
The purpose of this project is to improve the intersection flow capacity and decrease congestion.
Project design includes:
· Addition of 230 linear feet to the existing southbound Left-Turn Lane on SH 3 and conversion of an existing southbound Thru Lane on SH 3 into a second Left-Turn Lane, and a new southbound Right-Turn Lane on SH 3 at the FM 518 intersection.
· Addition of 170 linear feet to an existing southbound Right Thru Lane on SH 3 south of the FM 518 intersection and 400 linear feet to an existing northbound Left-Turn Lane on SH 3 at the FM 518 intersection.
· Conversion of an existing northbound Thru Lane on SH 3 into a second Left-Turn Lane and a new northbound Right-Turn Lane on SH 3.
· Addition of 180 linear feet to the existing eastbound Left-Turn Lane on FM 518 with a raised curb median and a new eastbound Right-Turn Lane on FM 518.
· Conversion of a Right Turn/Thru Lane to a 460 linear foot Right-Turn Lane on westbound FM 518 and an addition of 110 linear feet to the Left-Turn Lane on westbound FM 518
