Consider and take action on a resolution designating The Galveston Daily News as the official newspaper for the City of League City for FY2027 (Director of Finance)
Background:
Approval of this item will authorize a one-year agreement with The Galveston Daily News as the official newspaper for the City of League City. Under Texas Local Government Code Section 52.004 and the City of League City Charter (Article X, Section 13), the City must annually designate a local newspaper as the official newspaper for the City of League City.
The Purchasing Department requested quotes from local area newspapers including The Galveston Daily News, The Houston Chronicle (Hearst Media), and The Bay Area Observer. The Bay Area Observer has ceased operations, and after multiple communication attempts, The Houston Chronicle has not responded. The staff recommends The Galveston Daily News as the official newspaper for the City. Pricing is $12 per column inch, which has been the same rate for the past four (4) years. Expected expenditure for the Agreement is approximately $40,000.
