Title
Consider and take action on a resolution directing the City Manager to develop options for a memorial garden to honor the lives of Heidi Fye, Laura Miller, Audrey Cook and Donna Prudhomme (Mayor Long, Councilmember Chadwell and Councilmember Saunders)

Background:
Approval of this item will direct the City Manager to develop options for a memorial garden to honor the lives of Heidi Fye, Laura Miller, Audrey Cook and Donna Prudhomme.

The bodies of these women were discovered in the field near the intersection of Calder Road and Ervin Road in League City. This location is part of a broader region along Interstate 45 (I-45), sometimes called the Texas Killing Fields, where numerous unsolved murders and disappearances of young women have occurred since the 1970s. The Calder Road site remains one of the most well-known crime scenes in this tragic history.

The Memorial Garden Proposal
The goal of this initiative is to establish a peaceful, reflective garden to commemorate the victims and provide a place for remembrance. The proposed memorial garden would be located within the Pat Hallisey Park, integrating natural beauty and tranquility into a space dedicated to honoring these women.

Community & Family Support
The initiative has received strong support from the community and the victims' families, who see this as a way to ensure their loved ones are never forgotten. The memorial will serve as both a tribute and a reminder of the importance of safety, justice, and remembrance for those lost to violence.

City Discussions & Funding Considerations
This resolution directs the City Manager to develop options for the memorial garden. The Pat Hallisey Park has been identified as the preferred site, allowing for an appropriate and accessible location within League City. While funding sources are still under discussion, potential options may include city allocations, grants, or community fundraising efforts.
