Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a renewal agreement with the State of Texas for the Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services Program allowing the City of League City access to the military’s reallocation program (Chief of Police)
Background:
If approved, the City would maintain its access to the military’s reallocation network. The City has taken advantage of this program for the last 13 years. The City has directly benefited from the program through the appropriation of furniture, high water vehicles, hurricane preparation materials, rescue vehicles, training supplies and various other items. Items are typically provided to the City free of charge and only require shipping costs, if local pickup is not available. This program has been very valuable in progressing the hurricane preparation capabilities of the City. During Hurricane Harvey the vast majority of high-water rescues involved vehicles that were received from the military through this program.
Access to this program has proven beneficial to the City and its citizens time and time again. This contract has to be renewed by close of business on June 21, 2019.
