Background:
If approved, this item will confirm the reappointment of Marc Edelman to the Civil Service Commission.
Applications from interested citizens were accepted, and Edelman was selected for reappointment, pending Council approval.
City Manager's Appointment:
Position No. 1 Marc Edelman Term to expire 12/31/2026
Per Section 143.006 of Texas Local Government Code - The commission consists of three members appointed by the municipality's chief executive and confirmed by the governing body of the municipality. Members serve staggered three-year terms with the term of one member expiring each year. Edelman was appointed to the commission on January 12, 2021.
Texas Local Government Code requires a person appointed to the commission to be of good moral character; a United States citizen; a resident of the municipality for more than three years; over 25 years of age; and not have held a public office within the preceding three years.
