Title
Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an agreement with Detail Construction Coastal Cottages for the construction of a galvanized, all-weather, covered awning to provide equipment storage in an amount not to exceed $72,020.03 (Director of Public Works)

Background:
Approval of this item will authorize an agreement with Detail Construction Coastal Cottages for the construction of a galvanized, all-weather, covered awning measuring 75 feet wide, 30 feet deep, and 16 feet high to provide equipment storage, in an amount not to exceed $72,020.03. This project was approved in the FY2026 Budget.

The City requested quotes for the construction of a galvanized, all-weather, I-beam-framed covered awning to provide storage and protection for heavy equipment used by the Utility Line Repair Department. The structure will accommodate equipment such as backhoes, arrow boards, air compressors, and generators. The request includes all materials and installation necessary for a complete, functional structure built to current building codes.

This project represents Phase 1, which consists of the awning construction. Phase 2 will include installation of a concrete parking surface and will be completed as soon as possible following Phase 1.

The purpose of the awning is to protect equipment from weather-related damage. Equipment used for underground utility repairs is frequently exposed to harsh environmental conditions, including rain, heat, and UV rays. The covered structure will shield equipment from these elements, reducing weather-related wear and tear, extending equipment service life, and minimizing maintenance costs.

Three quotes were obtained for this project as follows:
• Detail Construction Coastal Cottages - $72,020.03
• Yarberry Construction LLC - $81,385.00
• Avadek - $101,915.00

Based on the quotes received, staff recommends awarding the contract to Detail Construction Coastal Co...
