Consider and take action on an ordinance: 1) amending Chapter 78 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of League City, Texas entitled "Peddlers and Solicitors" to update and reorganize various provisions to be compliant with state law and 2) repealing Chapter 6 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of League City, Texas, entitled "Advertising" (City Attorney)
Staff recommends approval on first and final reading.
Background:
As part of its ongoing project to review and update League City’s Code of Ordinances, the City Attorney's office identified several sections of Chapter 78, entitled "Peddlers and Solicitors," that need to be updated for clarity and to be compliant with state law. Staff is also recommending the repeal of Chapter 6, entitled “Advertising”, as it also regulates peddlers and solicitors and is a duplication of Chapter 78.
The recommended changes are:
- reorganizing certain provisions of Chapter 78 to improve clarity;
- deleting a provision related to commercial flyers that conflicts with state law
- deleting Chapter 6
