Title
Consider and take action on a resolution ratifying the submission of a grant application to the FY2024 Houston Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) for the purchase of a Hazardous Materials identifier for the League City Fire Department Hazardous Material Team (Fire Chief)
Background
Approval of this item would ratify the submission of an application by the Fire Marshal’s Office to the FY2024 Houston Urban Area Security Initiative. This grant application is for the purchase of a Hazardous Materials Identifier to be used by the League City Fire Department to identify unknown solid, liquid, and gas materials.
The League City Fire Department Hazardous Materials team currently does not have the capabilities to detect an unknown substance, when responding to a hazardous materials incident. If funded, this would allow for the team to have access in the field to conduct sampling and identify unknown solid, liquid, and gaseous materials.
The proposed funding of $78,840.00 for this grant application would be 100% funded through the Houston Area Security Initiative grant program.
