Consider and take action on an ordinance amending Chapter 125 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of League City, entitled, “Unified Development Code”, related to used car dealerships (Councilmembers Cones and Higginbotham)
The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval, 5-0-0, on January 8, 2026.
Background:
Approval of this item will create amend the Unified Development Code to allow used car sales with a Special Use Permit.
Project Timeline:
December 19, 2025 - Notice of the public hearings was published in the paper.
January 8, 2026 - The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing and recommended approval of the item.
January 27, 2026 - City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing and hear the item on first reading.
February 24, 2026 - Subject to approval on first reading, City Council is scheduled to hear the item on second reading.
Project Summary:
The proposed ordinance amendment would add a definition for “Used Car Sales” and allow the use in the "CG" District subject to approval of a Special Use Permit.
On January 8, 2026, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the proposed text amendment, 5-0-0.
