Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the purchase of one (1) replacement Kubota mower in an amount not to exceed $28,314.61 (Director of Parks and Cultural Services)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the purchase of one (1) replacement Kubota mower at a total cost of $28,314.61. This mower was identified for replacement in the FY2027 Capital Replacement Program due to its age and condition.
The unit being replaced is a 2019 Exmark mower (Unit #4004) with more than 3,000 operating hours. Prior to its scheduled replacement, the mower sustained a catastrophic electrical fire and was declared a total loss by the City's insurance carrier.
The replacement mower will be purchased through the BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Program, satisfying the City's procurement requirements and allowing for an expedited purchase process.
This mower is one of four primary mowing units assigned to the Chester L. Davis Sportsplex. Replacing the equipment immediately is critical to maintaining mowing operations during the peak growing season. Delaying the purchase until the next fiscal year would significantly impact the Parks Department's ability to maintain athletic fields and park grounds at the required service levels.
The City's insurance carrier will reimburse a total of $18,014.00 for the loss of the damaged mower. An initial payment of approximately $10,000 will be issued immediately, with the remaining reimbursement to be paid upon submission of the invoice for the replacement unit.
