Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the purchase of 16 GETAC replacement laptops and docking stations for the Police Department in an amount not to exceed $65,000, utilizing State Contract Sourcewell 090122-GET (Executive Director of Information Technology)
Background:
Approval of this item will authorize the purchase of 16 GETAC replacement laptops, docking stations and vehicle adapters. The Police Department relies on rugged laptops to facilitate critical field operations. These devices allow officers to access dispatch information, write reports, check databases, and communicate securely in real time while on patrol.
The current Panasonic laptops in service are reaching the end of their usable life (5-7 years). They are increasingly experiencing hardware and software limitations that hinder productivity and pose a risk to operational efficiency and officer safety.
After a thorough evaluation and in collaboration with the Police Department, Information Technology recommends replacing the 16 laptops, docking stations with GETAC S510 laptops, docking stations and vehicle adapters.
