Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the purchase of one (1) 2025 Ford F550 ambulance from Southern Emergency and Rescue Vehicle Sales with related emergency equipment for Emergency Medical Services using H-GAC Contract No. AM10-23 in an amount not to exceed $457,673.15 (Director of Public Works)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the second purchase of one (1) 2025 Ford F550 ambulance from Southern Emergency and Rescue Vehicle Sales with related emergency equipment for Emergency Medical Services using H-GAC Contract No. AM10-23 in an amount not to exceed $457,673.15.

The FY2025 approved budget authorizes funding to replace two (2) ambulances from the Capital Replacement fund for a total cost of $900,000. On September 24, 2024, Council approved Agenda 6H, Item No. 24-041 (see Attachment No. 7) for the fast-track purchase of unit 240, one of two ambulances approved in the FY 2025 Capital Replacement Fund. This proposed purchase addresses the second ambulance (Unit 290).

EMS UNIT BEING REPLACED (1)
Unit 290 is a 2016 Chevrolet 3500 Ambulance with 122,224 miles. While unit 290 was approved for replacement in FY2024 budget, unit 260 was replaced in FY2024 due to an emergency. Unit 260 was initially planned as a FY2025 replacement and due to the emergency last year, the two units traded years of replacement.

The capital replacement vehicles were approved in FY2025 after an annual inventory audit was conducted on all fleet vehicles and equipment. The inventory list consisted of current miles/hours, purchase year, estimated useful life, and the targeted replacement year. Vehicles and equipment were then placed through a scoring system evaluating five measures: age, mileage, type of service, general overall condition, and maintenance repair costs.
