Consider and take action on a resolution updating and adopting a schedule of fees for Emergency Medical Services (Fire Chief)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will increase the rates for emergency medical services. The current EMS billing rates were adopted by ordinance 2016-22. With increasing operational costs and the passing of SB 2476, it is recommended by staff to adjust rates accordingly before December 15, 2023.
The first submission deadline is December 15, 2023. While this is not the final fee schedule submission deadline, submitting our agency’s fee schedule by December 15, 2023, will guarantee that our fees are considered for the entire calendar year of 2024.
If we fail to submit our fees to the TDI portal by December 15, 2023, there will be other opportunities to do so. Without our submitted fee schedule, commercial insurance companies will be guided to pay the lesser of the charged fees or 325% of Medicare allowable rates.
