Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the submission of application to the Federal Emergency Management Association - Assistance to Firefighters Fire Prevention and Safety Grant for the purchase of a fire sprinkler system demo side by side trailer and authorizing the City Manager to accept such a grant if awarded (Fire Department)
Background:
Approval of this item will allow the Fire Marshal’s Office to apply for the purchase of a fire sprinkler system demo side by side trailer through the Federal Emergency Management Association - Assistance to Firefighters Grant. The proposed funding for this project would be $45,000 in which 95% of this funding amount would be covered by the Assistance to Firefighters Grant. If the grant is awarded, The City of League City would be responsible for paying no more than $2,250.00 for the 5% city match which is required by this grant funding opportunity
The purpose of this side by side fire sprinkler demo trailer is to have two separated rooms, one with a fire sprinkler and one without a fire sprinkler. Theses rooms will be set up similar to each other and then set on fire. This educational trailer will allow for the audience to see first-hand the lifesaving ability of the fire sprinkler system along with learning how rapidly a fire grows
