Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an agreement with Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists, Inc. for one Spartan S-180 Model 3120 Pumper with equipment as listed in the pumper specifications using Sourcewell contact # 113021-RVG-4 in an amount not to exceed $1,298,801 (Interim Fire Chief)
Background:
Approval of this item will authorize the purchasing of a new pumper from Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists, Inc., in an amount not exceeding $1,298,801.00. Currently, Engine 44 (VM15), a 2008 Spartan Pumper with 43,967 miles, 3,969 hours, a vehicle maintenance score of 12.4, and has reached its 16th year of service. VM 15 was originally replaced in FY2018 and at that time was then moved to a reserve engine status. Upon receipt of the new pumper, VM 15 will be removed from service and Engine 66 (VM43), which is a 2009 Spartan Pumper with approximately 34064 miles, 3096 hours, and has a vehicle maintenance score of 11, will be moved to a reserve engine status, for the remainder of the useful life, per NFPA standards. The proposed pumper, which is the S-180 Model 3120 Pumper was selected by the League City VFD Apparatus Committee and is supported by Fire Administration and Vehicle Maintenance.
Within the FY2025 budget, $1,410,000 was approved with a planned purchase of a new pumper out of the vehicle replacement fund. By approving this purchase, this will allow the Fire Department to reserve a September 2025 date, which is the expected date that the pumper will leave the assembly line. Once the pumper is off the assembly line, it is estimated that League City will take delivery of the pumper 90-120 days after assembly. Approval of this item will also allow for the purchase of one (1) Motorola Mobile Radio, five (5) Motorola Portable Radios with chargers in an amount not to exceed $75,000 on HGAC contract.
