Consider and take action on an ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of League City, Chapter 2, Article VI entitled "Disposition of Surplus Property". (Director of Finance)
Background:
Approval of this item will enable the City Manager to authorize the disposition of surplus property with a value of less than $2,500 without City Council approval.
Under current City Ordinances, all property must be declared surplus by City Council prior to disposition. Once the item is designated as surplus, it is placed in public auction. The proposed ordinance would allow the City Manager to authorize the disposition of property with value of less than $2,500, which will expedite the disposal of property with limited value, such as furniture, computer equipment, etc. This agenda item does not change the disposition process; it expedites the designation of limited value items as surplus so they can be moved to disposition more rapidly.
