Consider and take action to approve a contract with AceScapes Inc., per Bid 13-031 for city-wide Manicured Mowing Services through September 30, 2014. (Deputy City Manager)
Background:
Approval of this item will authorize a contract with Acescapes to perform manicured mowing at city facilities.
On June 24, 2014, City Council ratified a contract termination with Groundstar Inc and approved a contract with Horticare Lawn Maintenance. On June 26, 2014, Horticare notified Purchasing staff that, due to an inability to secure sufficient manpower for this contract they would withdraw. Staff immediately contacted the 3rd low bidder, Acescapes Inc., to the aforementioned Invitation to Bid to inquire if their company would be able to contract for services immediately. They were and agreed to contract with the City at the terms and prices bid on Septmber 5, 2013. Acescapes is the prior contractor with the city, is extremely familiar with all requirements, and the city has been satisfied with their performance.
Due in large part to the fact that parts of the city are in need of catch-up work and the quantities of mows this time of the year we anticipate this contract to be approximately $50,000
The City Purchasing Department will re-advertise this service during the summer to ensure contracts are in place for October 1, 2014.
