Consider and take action on award of RFP #15-036, a construction contract to Lynn’s Landscaping, Inc. in the amount of $76,007.80 for landscaping of the City Monument Signs Enhancement Project (Deputy City Manager)
Background:
Approval of this item will award the construction contract for landscaping services for three City locations (FM 518 at the West City Limit, SH 3 at Walter Hall Park and City Hall Municipal Complex). During the 2013 Strategic Visioning, the City identified the need for developing a gateway or entryway signage as a strategic priority.
The City previously solicited bids for landscaping enhancements at four (4) monument sign locations, three listed above plus FM 270 southbound near the City’s boat ramp entrance. During the installation, a decision was made to increase the size of the plant material at the FM 270 installation to enhance the visual appearance. The final cost for that site was $21,037.15. In an effort to achieve a similar look, the project was redefined with larger plant material and the project rebid.
One bid for the project was received and publicly opened and read on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. The proposal is attached. The project evaluation team agrees that the price submitted is reasonable and compares fairly with the previous completed project. The City’s recommendation is to award the contract to Lynn’s Landscaping in the amount of $76,007.80 for landscaping, irrigation, lighting and 1 year of maintenance of the City Monument Signs.
